Corvina

Corvina (also known as Corvina Veronese or Cruina Cassabria Rondinella), is an Italian wine grape variety mainly grown in the Veneto region of northeast Italy. Corvina grapes are used with several other grape varieties to create the light red fruity regional wines, Bardolino and Valpolecella. Grape vines are usually trained along a pergola which allows more buds to be produced along the long canes, however during the growth cycle the first few buds that develop do not produce fruit. Nevertheless, as this is a late ripening variety, vines are prone to produce high yields, which can have an overall negative impact on wine quality.
