Malbec

Malbec (also known as Cahors, Calarin, Cauli, Costa Rosa, Cot A Queue Verte, Cotes Rouges, Doux Noir, Estrangey, Gourdaux, Grelot De Tours, Grifforin, Guillan, Hourcat, Jacobain, Luckens, Magret, Malbek, Medoc Noir, Mouranne, Navarien, Negre De Prechac, Negrera, Noir De Chartres and Noir De Pressac) is a purple grape variety used in red wines. The grapes tend to have a dark inky colour with robust tannins, and are one of the six grape varieties allowed in the blend of red Bordeaux wine. Malbec is a thin-skinned grape that requires more sun than heat, and therefore it can produce a high yield that is ready for harvest mid season.
