Muscat (also known as Muskatelle, Moscato, Moscato Bianco, Moscatel and Moskately) is a variety of grapes widely grown in many countries around the world for wine, raisins and table grapes. The colours range from white to near black. The breadth and number of varieties of this grape suggest that it is perhaps the oldest domestic grape still grown today. Muscat grapes have been found to contain a high concentration of antioxidants, giving beneficial effects of red wine consumption. Harvesting usually takes place in October.
