Zibibbo

(also known as Muscat of Alexandria and Lexia in Australia) The most cultivated grape on the volcanic island of Pantelleria, off the coast of North Africa, the name Zibibbo comes from the Arab word zibib meaning grape. A variety of the Muscato dessert grape, the Zibibbo has a concentrated sweet flavour with delicate floral and citrus overtones. The "Moscato" wine of Pantelleria is amber in colour with a strong taste. The "Passito" wine, is also amber in colour with a remarkably dense fragrance of dried figs, candied fruits and dates.
