Overlooking the Garonne river, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux starts south of Bordeaux city and stretches to Cadillac. One of the Bordeaux region's most prolific, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux and produces some of the best value Bordeaux red wines. Red wines are produced from Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc grapes, but also from Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carmenère. While the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux mainly produces fruity red wines, some good quality sweet white wines dominate the hotter southern appellations of Cadillac, Sainte-Croix-du-Mont and Loupiac. These sweet wines have a fruity and floral bouquet with notes of citrus and candied fruit, quince, peach and yellow flowers. These do, however, have an independent AOC Cadillac appellation for sweet white wines.
