Compared to the other AOCs in Medoc, Margaux is the largest and an extremely important AOC in Bordeaux. France officially designated this as a separate wine region or AOC in 1954. Of all the Médoc communes, Margaux has perhaps the most readily identifiable style. Wines from this region are the most fragrant wines in Medoc. They are also highly sought after due to the growing conditions and terrior of this region. The famous Bordeaux blends from this AOC are a combination of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape and Merlot grape however, wines can also sometimes include Cabernet Franc. Typically light and fresh, though sometimes darker yet gravelly in character, this wine has an array of floral aromas.
